Jennifer van der Meer is an innovation consultant, writer, and advocate for environmental advocacy through conscious capitalism. A former Wall Street analyst and economist, van der Meer has observed that capitalism is an effective force for social and environmental change. Until recently, companies responded to pressure from short-term focused shareholders at the expense of long-term human and environmental concerns. A dramatic shift has occurred in the past several years, as companies are challenging their leaders to serve social, environmental, and shareholder goals. As a specialist in brand, design, and product innovation, van der Meer has witnessed this shift firsthand. She has been responsible for the conception and launch of over 50 brand and products to market, for companies such as GE, Disney, American Express, Motorola, Interface, Inc., and MTV. van der Meer's current consulting practice focuses on how companies can navigate their way to conscious, environmentally aware, responsible innovation. van der Meer is an organizer within the green and responsible business community, and serves as Board Chair for o2-NYC, a green design educational non-profit, Alumnae Chair for The Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership, and the Barnard Advisory Board for Entrepreneurs. As a writer, van der Meer's blog articles on Inhabitat.com, a green design site, have been published on BusinessWeek.com and Greenpeace alike. She has lectured on entrepreneurship, innovation, and green design at NYU, Barnard, and Columbia Business School. van der Meer received her MBA from HEC in Paris and has held strategy and executive management positions at Organic, Inc., Frog Design, and Fahrenheit 212. | |||||
